OpenFilmo Studio

Edit photos in the browser — your images never leave the device

Layers, blend modes, curves, a mask brush, type, crop and rotate, all on one page. Every pixel operation runs on your own machine: no upload, no queue, no credits.

No upload · No watermark · Free for now

Nothing gets uploaded

Rendering happens in WebGL on your device. Not a single pixel is sent to a server, so client photos and ID shots are safe to open.

Every step stays editable

Adjustments are parameters, not filters. Drag a slider back, double-click to zero it, undo up to 120 steps.

Paint the mask directly

Erase what you do not want and the pixels underneath stay untouched. Size, hardness and flow, with a restore brush for mistakes.

Free, and no watermark

Local GPU work has no marginal cost, so there is no per-use fee, no queue and no logo in the corner.

Tools do one thing. Studio keeps your work.

OpenFilmo has two modes. Tools finish a single job: remove a watermark, upscale an image, generate a clip. Studio keeps a document: layers, parameters and masks are saved, so you can come back tomorrow and change the opacity of the third layer.

The same capability feels different in each mode. Removing a watermark in Tools is upload, wait, download. In Studio it is paint, look, paint again. The side that lets you undo is the side you want for retouching.

What this version includes

Multi-layer editing with 8 blend modes, ten global adjustments (exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, temperature, tint, sharpen, vignette, grain), RGB curves with add/remove control points, a mask brush, a text layer with font, size, colour, stroke, shadow and alignment, crop with five common ratios, rotate and flip, 120 undo steps, and a draft that saves itself on your device.

Export to JPG, PNG or WebP at original size or a 2048 / 1080 long edge. PNG and WebP keep transparency. Rendering runs in 1024-pixel tiles so large documents never need one huge framebuffer.

What it does not do yet

AI cutout, object removal, outpainting, upscaling and portrait retouching are not here. They need server-side models and the cluster has no GPU node yet, so the honest choice was to ship without them rather than make you wait fifteen seconds or pay per click.

It also does not read or write PSD, does not do RAW processing, and is not colour-managed for print. The goal is images that look right where they get published, not a prepress workstation.

Three steps

  1. 01
    Drop an image in

Drag it, pick a file, or press ⌘V to paste. You can also start from a blank canvas.

  2. 02
    Adjust until it looks right

Colour with sliders and curves, erase with the mask brush, add a line of type, change the aspect ratio.

  3. 03
    Export

Choose a format and size; the file is encoded in your browser. No credits are used.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?
No. Everything runs in your browser, and once the page has loaded you can edit and export offline. That is also why it feels faster than online editors: one upload and one download disappear.
Is it really free?
Yes, for now, and it does not consume credits because the compute is yours. When AI features (cutout, object removal, generation) arrive they will be charged per use, and the price will be shown on the page.
Does it open PSD files?
No. Export formats are JPG, PNG and WebP. If you need to hand a layered file to a designer, this is not the right tool yet.
Why is export capped at 4096 pixels on the long edge?
Browser canvases have an area limit — about 16.7 megapixels on iOS Safari — and going past it fails or crashes. 4096 covers almost every publishing use case; crop first if you need more.
Does it work on a phone?
It does. The layout switches to a bottom toolbar and a drawer, though precision dragging is still easier with a mouse. Images above 2048 pixels are previewed at reduced resolution for smoothness and re-rendered at full size on export.
Will I lose my work if I close the tab?
No. A draft is saved to your browser every 800 ms and offered back on the next visit. It will not survive a different device, a different browser, or cleared site data, so export anything important.
